Markus Gahlen, born in Recklinghausen, Germany, is a guitarist, vocalist, composer, and producer based near Bonn. He began playing guitar at around eight years old, teaching himself the instrument. Later, he pursued formal education in jazz guitar at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, earning a diploma. (Gahlen)
In the 1990s, Gahlen moved to Cologne, where he worked as a studio choir singer and co-founded a music production company with its own recording studio. There, he composed and produced music for international advertising campaigns and corporate films for prominent companies. (Gahlen)
Starting in 2011, Gahlen served as a backing musician for renowned German-speaking artists such as Udo Jürgens, Roland Kaiser, Peter Kraus, Howard Carpendale, and Heino. Concurrently, he pursued a solo career as an acoustic fingerstyle guitarist, releasing his first solo album, “Better Now Than Never,” in 2010. (Ibanez)
