Composition of Resonances
How does a project of such breadth come into being? Not all at once. At first there is a quiet sound, scarcely more than a memory. Then voices join in, paths cross, places open their doors. From many small movements, a larger coherence begins to grow.
Allies are found by trusting them to become part of a thought that is not yet complete. Musicians, partners, workshops of the mind — together they form the fine network that carries a project long before the first note is sounded.
And yet: every vision needs the ground beneath it. Organization, planning, research — the inconspicuous but indispensable measures that hold the freedom in place. Thus everything comes together as a composition that reaches far beyond music: a work made of people, ideas, and the patience to let them sound together.
Overture
Before an idea becomes visible, it drifts soundlessly through space — a shimmer of time, memory, and something unnamed. Every idea needs an environment and support that encourage it to take shape.
That is how it began: first in the vastness of the universe, then in the gaze upon old songs that waited like birds in a cage.
From this suspension, the first thought emerged.

1st Movement – The Search
The first traces I found on the internet — vague outlines of possible companions. But music demands closeness. So I set out, traveling to those places where names turn into people.
Jazz musicians are like pigeons: at home everywhere, yet truly recognizable only in direct encounter.
Thus began the search for those who might carry this first thought.
3rd Movement – The Two Ensembles
From encounters across Europe grew a collection of voices and possibilities. Only in retrospect did it become clear which constellations might endure. Some felt like eggs — to be handled with care, full of promise. Others already appeared as feathers — traces of a sound that was beginning to unfold.
Thus two ensembles came into being, different in color and temperament, yet both rooted in the same experience.
4th Movement – The Songs & the Places
As the ensembles began to take shape, the search for the songs commenced. Each musician was given a small “cage” — a song that had lingered too long within old interpretations. The task was simple and at the same time delicate: to study it, to touch it, and finally to set it free, without overwhelming it.
This required places capable of carrying such work: Heek, with its quiet concentration, and Schwalenberg, with its openness and light. Here, the songs were meant to learn how to breathe — and to find their new freedom.

Finale – The Jumelages & the Media
In Heek, and later in Schwalenberg, the ensembles grew into unified bodies that found their own distinct expression. Leisure met joy, inspiration met friendship, and from this convergence emerged a shared will to shape and create.
The recordings, videos, and concert moments preserve what came into being there: a sound born of encounter, one that continues to resonate beyond the moment.
