Marc Berthoumieux, born on September 13, 1960, in Annemasse, Haute-Savoie, France, is a distinguished accordionist, composer, arranger, and producer. He began his musical journey at the age of eleven, initially learning the clarinet in his local municipal band and later studying piano at the Geneva Conservatory. Despite formal training, he considers himself largely self-taught, having spent over two decades performing dance music on stage. (Marc Berthoumieux)
In 1991, Berthoumieux relocated to Paris, where he quickly gained recognition in the jazz scene, collaborating with musicians such as Louis Winsberg and Jean-Marc Jafet. His debut album, “Les Couleurs d’ici,” released in 1998, was nominated for the Django d’Or award in the category of Best Newcomer for a first album. (Wikiwand)
Throughout his career, Berthoumieux has released several notable albums:
• “Jazz / No Jazz” Volumes 1 & 2 (2004)
• “In Other Words” (2011), featuring Giovanni Mirabassi, Henri Texier, and André Ceccarelli
• “Le Bal des Mondes” (2018), which includes a track with the voice of Claude Nougaro
• “Les Couleurs d’ici - Live” (2020)
• “Les Choses de la Vie - Live” (2022), recorded in a trio setting with Giovanni Mirabassi and Laurent Vernerey
Berthoumieux has collaborated with a diverse array of artists across various genres, including Charles Aznavour, Harry Belafonte, Patrick Bruel, Maurane, Gilbert Bécaud, Serge Lama, Andrea Bocelli, Placido Domingo, Grégoire, Zaz, and Julien Clerc.
